Fetcher Dog raises a record-breaking amount at this year’s Charity Ball!!

We are proud to announce that we have raised over £60,000 during our annual event, the Fetcher Dog Charity Ball.

After taking into consideration the evening's expenditure costs, the total remains a significant and welcomed difference to our overall operational costs.

The 2024 Fetcher Dog Ball was hosted at Hogarth’s Hotel in Solihull and featured a range of live entertainment including Mick Miller and a 7-piece jazz band, Aura.

The pinnacle of the evening was the live auction which raised over £20,000. Attendees competed in front of a live Auctioneer, Mr Arnie Kaplan MBE, to bid on sporting experiences, memorabilia, music events and holidays.

The cost of operating our UK Rescue Centre, as well as caring for and transporting the dogs we rescue from kill shelters, is over £15,000 a month. While historically we’ve been able to rely on the generosity of the public, this isn’t tenable during the current Cost of Living crisis.

We are also now being asked to rescue many dogs from UK pounds. These have been seized, surrendered, or abandoned – once the property of the pound, they have 7 days to be claimed or rehomed. Once that time has elapsed, they are put to sleep. We continue to fight the cause for the Bosnian dogs, but we cannot ignore what is on our doorstep.

The event was held in partnership with local companies, LJS Fencing and BD Fencing Supplies, and the Charity are truly grateful to the support received by these two companies.

When asked why Laura Steves, Managing Director, chose to sponsor the event, she told us:

'We are proud to be sponsoring tonight’s ball. We are especially passionate to support the work that the Charity do raising awareness, the rescue and rehoming of such beautiful dogs.

Looking forward to another incredible evening raising money for a great cause.'

The aim of the event was to try and beat the previous amount raised at the 2023 of £60,000 for the charity and we were delighted to announce to our guests on the night that we had managed to beat that amount!

A total of £60,875 was raised including pledges from our guests to sponsor one of our dogs for 12 months. Find out more about this campaign by visiting our website

The overwhelming kindness shown by event attendees and donors has raised vital funds for the operation of the charity, even at a time when everyone is facing financial difficulty.

Fetcher Dog Chairman, Andy Foote said:
Fetcher Dog is so grateful for the support of our generous donors and wonderful adopters when times are truly difficult. The charity is built on the need to help the poor dogs that suffer on the street or in European kill shelters and while it’s getting harder to run the charity each month, the money we’ve managed to raise in a single evening is remarkable.
“To receive this support during these challenging times demonstrates the true kindness of our community, it really is uplifting. The funds we’ve received should provide us with financial stability for the rest of 2024 and allow us to achieve our Charitable Objectives to save as many dogs as possible and provide them with “forever-homes.”

The next Ball will take place on Saturday 1st March 2025 at Hogarth’s Hotel and tables will go on sale later in the year. For more information, please email
