Right now, our Fiver Fundraiser is quietly ticking away in the background – and we’re incredibly grateful to those of you who already give. But the truth is, only a tiny fraction of our amazing online community is currently donating.
At the moment, just 74 people support us every month through Give As You Live, and only 20 donate directly to our bank account.
Yet we have thousands of wonderful Fetcher Dog Friends following us on Facebook and Instagram. If just 1,000 of you were able to give £5 a month, it would transform what we’re able to do.
That small monthly gift would cover our rent, essential cleaning supplies, and the wages for our three part-time staff (around 20 hours each – we simply can’t afford more right now). It would also make a huge dent in our vet bills, food costs, and utilities. We still wouldn’t have everything covered, but instead of scrambling to find all of our monthly costs, we’d “only” need to raise an additional £6,000–£7,000 to keep going.
Every dog we take in from the pound or off the streets needs so much more than a warm bed. They need safety, kindness, nutritious food, a clean environment – and, most importantly, veterinary care. Even when a dog appears healthy, they still need a full vet check.
On average, medical costs alone for each dog are around £350–£400. That can include anything from treating ear infections, insect bites, and kennel cough picked up in the pound, all the way to major surgeries for broken bones, cruciate ligament damage, severe skin infections, and life‑threatening conditions like pyometra or a prolapsed womb.
This is where your “fiver” becomes life-changing.
