Diary of a Fetcher Dog volunteer and I remember beautiful Mona.

Mona

Hi, my name’s Paul and I’m a volunteer with Fetcher Dog.

The past few weeks at the centre have been intense and demanding.

With the charity currently short-staffed, and our mischievous four-legged residents bringing their usual boundless energy.

The heat has only added to the challenge. Much of my time has been spent keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes — cleaning kennels, changing bedding, mopping floors, preparing meals and, of course, tackling the endless day-to-day mess that comes with caring for dogs who know no limits.

It’s hard work, certainly, but it’s also a reminder of the dedication needed to give these wonderful animals the care they deserve.

The charity is currently looking for staff, the job is a really positive way to show, not only your support and care for animals but to work within a team to build a positive movement for good.

On a positive note, more than ten dogs have been adopted in the last few weeks, the centre has had a number of volunteers, bringing their skills to build fences and walls for the paddocks and staff rooms.

I am always impressed by the altruism of individuals and the charity would not exist without the generosity of canine-loving individuals.

I have enclosed some photos of time spent with Tommy and Eddie, Eddie has found himself located right next to the kitchen and therefore the treats - cheeky scamp and Tommy's lust for life with his minor physical challenge is always an inspiration to me.

Both are able to be adopted.

Tommy – Fetcher Dog

Eddie – Fetcher Dog

I’d also like to take a moment to speak about Mona, who passed away last week following a serious illness. She was a gentle soul who endured a difficult beginning and spent many years in the charity’s care before finally finding a loving home two years ago. I’m grateful to her adopters for giving Mona the care, comfort, and love she so richly deserved, and I will always treasure our memories.

See you again sweet-pea!!
