The Fetcher Dog Diary!

Because of how hectic everything always is in rescue, I don't think I can commit to the same day each week for the diary BUT I am going to try to stick to posting as often as I can.
This last few months has been really tough for us. The cost of living crisis has really impacted us and our donations. Less money is coming in but also everything is more expensive. Running our centre for electricity, water and oil bills alone is a HUGE cost and it's not an exciting thing to do a fundraiser for so we have to try and squirrel away small amounts at a time to pay those off. We are lucky that we don't need heating for half of the year but the temperature dropped rapidly a few weeks ago and a big amount of oil was needed to heat our kennels.

Oil for the heating alone costs about £3000 to cover us for the coldest months as we have a big space and we want to keep the dogs warm especially overnight when they can't go out and run around. The bad weather does mean that they often come in wet so having heating is crucial. We have also found that all the donation platforms either take a really long time to pay out or take huge fees so we don't see the donations right when we need them. We always try to stay positive and know this will pass as our supporters are so wonderful and always seem to come through at the right time but it can make it scary and stressful for a little team on centre. As well as the oil bills, our electricity bills are about £1500 per month and our water bills are around £400 per month. We also have an additional cost of £800 for waste removal-- our very beautiful dogs make a lot of poo!! I will add donation details to this post in case anyone wants to help towards any of these costs.

We are also looking for new ways to fundraise so if anyone wants to help us with a fundraising event, please do get in touch!! This could be anything from a pub quiz, to a crafting workshop to a bake sale!!!!! We are so so grateful whenever anyone decides to do a fundraiser for us, it doesn't happen very often but it really means a lot.

The last week has seen a few of our lovely dogs find their homes which is very exciting!! Todd won everyone's hearts when he first arrived to us from the pound. He was shaking and scared but with a little bit of patience and a lot of love, he completely transformed into a goofy, loving and nutty boy. We are so happy that he was able to find a forever home of his own so fast!!!

A couple of our 'Ted Lasso' family dogs have been adopted and are doing well in their homes so far. The matriarch of the family is also heading to a home this week which is GREAT as the Mums are usually left behind as all the puppies find homes of their own. I am so excited to see updates as they all settle into their homes.

One of our long termers, 'Rafa' was reserved for adoption this week and we are thrilled!!! He is the sweetest boy and has been let down quite a few times in his little life.

We are so happy that he is finally getting his chance for a happily ever after.
Peaches and her family are continuing to thrive and get naughtier by the day. She is such a wonderful Mum but every waking moment is a bit chaotic for her at the moment so I am sure she is looking forward to having a break. If she's not nursing, she is trying to teach the babies manners as they are all wrestling and causing mischief continuously!
Thank you for tuning in and for sticking with us and supporting our dogs. We really appreciate it!!!

Thank you
Jordan
