Fetcher Dog, frequently asked questions - Vaccinations and your dog!!

One of the frequently asked questions is about dog vaccinations?!
There are some essential vaccines that every dog should have, whether they’re a puppy or an adult. These are known as core vaccines, and they protect against highly contagious and potentially deadly illnesses:
Generally speaking (unless on medical advice) Fetcher Dog ensure that all dogs have up to date DHPP vaccinations at the time of adoption.
What’s Included in the DHPP Vaccine for Dogs?
The five-in-one vaccine for dogs is typically referred to by its acronym (DHPP, DAPP, or DA2PP) to indicate the diseases it protects against. This vaccine includes protection against:
-
Canine Distemper Virus (D)
-
Two types of adenoviruses, hepatitis and kennel cough (A, A2, or H)
-
Parainfluenza (P)
Please note - To keep your dog up-to-date with their vaccinations and so that they don't become ill, they will need a trip to the vets every 12 months to receive their yearly boosters.

Vaccinations help to:
• Protect against serious, potentially life-threatening diseases. Prevention matters, even when our pets seem happy and healthy.
• Build and maintain immunity to specific infections, helping our pets stay protected as they move through life.
• Give us greater peace of mind, knowing we’re taking an important step to care for the companions who depend on us.
• Reduce the risk of infections such as leptospirosis, which can also pass from animals to people. Protecting our pets can help protect the people around them, too.
Not sure whether your pet’s vaccinations are up to date? Have a chat with your vet. They can check your pet’s records and recommend a vaccination plan suited to their individual needs.
Our pets trust us to look after them. A simple check today is a loving step towards more shared adventures tomorrow.

Please note for puppies vaccination guidelines are as follows:
-
First vaccines are usually given between 6–8 weeks of age - A second dose follows 3–4 weeks later - A booster at 12 months helps build long-term immunity - Then, annual boosters or 3-year boosters depending on the vaccine Adult Dogs:
-
Follow-up boosters will depend on which vaccines they received as puppies - Leptospirosis: yearly - Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus: every 3 years
