Little Edie has been to the vets today for her X-rays and the outcome isn’t as expected
The vet said she had three fractures that had just been left to heal. One on her right tibula which is the least severe and a displaced fracture of the growth plate on the distal end of the femur just above the knee on her left leg. The left leg fracture was so bad that she has been left with the left leg shorter than the right. She also has a hip fracture. The vet said that this is the worst she’s ever seen and Edie would have been in huge amounts of pain as she was left to heal from these injuries with no help or vet care.
Fortunately and unfortunately for Edie, there’s nothing that can be done at this stage, she isn’t currently in pain and other than being a little wobbly on her feet, she can run and play as normal. We just have to keep an eye on her and making sure they aren’t causing her pain or getting worse in any way.
We don’t know what caused these fractures but it was most likely the result of repeated abuse or she was hit by a car at some point when she was young and then left to heal.
Things are looking up for Edie now and we can start our search to find her a forever home of her own.
