Our sweet girl Sweep hasn’t been feeling well the last couple of days but yesterday she went downhill and was rushed to the vets.

We discovered she had pyometra and needed emergency surgery.
Pyometra is when a bacterial infection combined with hormonal changes from a dogs season leads to an infection in the uterus.
This can then fill with pus and make the dog very poorly.
Unfortunately, some of the pus had also leaked into her abdomen so she needed that to be flushed out as well as the emergency spay surgery.
She is now on three different antibiotics and she’s back at the vets today so that she can be on fluids all day to get her strength back up.
The next 24-48 hours are critical as it’s very hard to know if any of the infection was left behind and how her immune system will cope with fighting it off.
Keep little Sweep in your thoughts and we will keep you updated on her progress!
